National Register Nominations
Wise has written 31 National Register nominations for properties that are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places or listed as a National Historic Landmark. We have three ongoing National Register projects. We have also worked on many
other National Register and determination of eligibility projects throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Historic Resource Surveys
Wise has completed 12 municipal-wide surveys of all historic resources 50 years old
and older, plus an additional 11 thematic surveys. These surveys have identified well over 3,000 historic properties and documented approaching 10,000 historic
Historic Structure Reports
Structure reports provide the most detailed documentation of a resource. They include historic research, a detailed physical description, and detailed measurements of the
historic resource(s) on the property. They are sometimes required by a municipality if the resource is slated for demolition.
Historic Resource Impact Studies
Impact Studies document the significance of a property potentially threatened
by a proposed undertaking and assesses the effects of the undertaking on the heritage area. The study considers potential impacts created by the undertaking and provides
recommendations to minimize the impacts.
Municipal Planning Services
Wise provides general historic preservation planning services to municipalities
in the greater Philadelphia area. We draft historic preservation ordinances, write the historic preservation element of open space and comprehensive plans, prepare interpretive site plans, conduct historic property research, and provide GIS mapping services.
Transportation Planning / Section 106
Wise undertakes Section 106 studies, including the production of the Criterion
and Effects Report required for transportation projects. Wise has undertaken two airport documentation projects, highway corridor projects, and resource surveys in
conjunction with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations.
Training & Presentations
Over the years, Wise has produced several presentations on historic preservation topics that we now give to historical commissions as part of
their ongoing education in the field. Some presentations cover general historic preservation topics, and some presentations outline the history of resource types (houses, barns, churches).

Wise Preservation Planning LLC does not have archaeologists on staff. We maintain professional relationships with archaeologists, and when
needed we contract with (or recommend) archaeologists for our clients.
